What a great week! We should have every Wednesday off.
Happy Aussie Day for a few days ago everyone. The three of us went to a couple from our Anti-Natal class's house for a lunch with another couple from the class and all our tin lids. After that we had a BBQ at T-Bone's place and I caught up with my friends who I haven't seen for a while (well, OK I saw them at touch football on Monday night but that doesn't count!).
This weekend is relatively quiet. There's still a lot of gardening and pool maintenance for me to do. I'll try and get a swing in at the driving range to get me ready for next weekend when we go to Cyprus Lakes ;)

Tim has updated his blog with a pic of the print that Mum & Dad, The Heaps and Kristin & I gave him for his birthday and Christmas just gone. Also in that post is a pic of his new wheels, so go have a look-see.
I was traveling home just the other day listening to my MiniDisc player as usual and the lyrics of a song stuck me more than they ever have before...
When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)
Lyrics by Brian Wilson
When I grow up to be a man
Will I dig the same things that turn me on as a kid?
Will I look back and say that I wish I hadn't done what I did?
Will I joke around and still dig those sounds
When I grow up to be a man?
Will I look for the same things in a woman that I dig in a girl?
(fourteen fifteen)
Will I settle down fast or will I first wanna travel the world?
(sixteen seventeen)
Now I'm young and free, but how will it be
When I grow up to be a man?
Oooooo Ooooooo Oooooooo
Will my kids be proud or think their old man is really a square?
(eighteen nineteen)
When they're out having fun yeah, will I still wanna have my share?
(twenty twenty-one)
Will I love my wife for the rest of my life
When I grow up to be a man?
What will I be when I grow up to be a man?
(twenty-two twenty-three)
Won't last forever
(twenty-four twenty-five)
It's kind of sad
(twenty-six twenty-seven)
Won't last forever
(twenty-eight twenty-nine)
It's kind of sad
(thirty thirty-one)
Won't last forever
(thirty-two...)

Charlotte had her first day (half day really) of Child Care on Thursday. Kristin reluctantly dropped her of in the morning and while Charlotte wasn't phased and was more than happy to stuff her face with 'new' toys, Kristin felt some loss in leaving her little chicken 'strangers' at this tender age (7 months). Kristin got a pleasant surprise when she saw her mum waiting for her out the front of the Centre to show support and make sure she was ok (a give a lift to the train station). Thanks Valerie.
Kristin is now working Thursdays and Fridays back at Ambition in a new roll that will fill those day quite easily!
While we have our reservations for sending Charlotte into Day Care so soon, we have weighed up the Pros & Cons and it works out in favor of the Pros in our case.

If you have a few minutes up your sleeve, you could head on over to my Brother-in-Law Wayne's photo website.
He is still on a whirlwind tour of Europe & Paraguay and will be back early Feb. Check out his collection of photos (almost all with descriptions!!) of Paris, Finland, Iceland, Copenhagen, Germany and the Czech Republic (Prague).
Also found at his site is Christmas, Easter in the Hunter, Charlotte's Baptism and even Charlotte's birth day.
Enjoy ;)

I really find it hard to come up with a title when my posts are going to be about nothing in particular...
Here goes:
First pic is of my feet in the swimming pool (pic of me in my street to come this week)

The first meeting and photo op for Charlotte's Godparents Nicola & Tim

This is just a fun one of Charlotte & I. Now where or where does she get her eyes from ;)

Thanks go out to my parents for the bed linen for the spare room, we hope that you guys enjoy it as much as we like it (which is a lot).

Alex Lloyd closed the Australia Unites - Reach Out To Asia concert on Saturday night with his biggest hit "Amazing". It was the exclamation mark at the end of a sentence that read We Care.
In our abode (ok, we watched it on the in-laws TV downstairs), we had a little get together and everyone that was there donated to the Red Cross Tsunami Appeal. By the end of the broadcast Australians had pledged through phone, SMS & the web AU$15 million, by 2am Sunday that amount topped AU$20 million, that's $1 for every man, woman & child living in this country.
wow
One thing that has made me think is, is it because all of these millions of people were affected by this disaster in only hours perhaps minutes that we have given our hearts and part of our wallets (and our hands in some cases) to help these people? Following are just a few points about only one of the many issues the Human race has facing it today:
AIDS
• According to the World Health Organization 34.3 million people in the world have the AIDS virus. 24.5 million of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Nearly 19 million have died from AIDS, 3.8 million of them children under the age 15.
• 5.4 million new AIDS cases in 1999, 4 million of them in Africa.
• 2.8 million died of AIDS IN 1999, 2.4 million of them in Africa.
• 13.2 million children orphaned by AIDS, 12.1 million of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
• Reduced life expectancy in sub-Saharan Africa from 59yrs to 45yrs between 2005 and 2010, and in Zimbabwe from 61yrs to 33yrs.

This past New Years Eve, the Sydney Harbour Bridge's 'Signature' was a big Disco Ball thingy that has spinny things on it... go figure.

I got bored the other week so I took this pic of the inside of one of the 'new' Millennium trains

After a week or so off work for Xmas/New Years I'm now back at work.
Most of my colleges are still on hols so it's a skeleton crew at the moment. I kinda like this time of year the best (as long as there isn't a HUGE amount of work to be done), you're able to get through the work at your own pace and because there aren't as many people harassing you, you get more done in a day :)
I best get back to it.

To celebrate the first day of the year (well okay, we had been meaning to take her in but it was never the right time) we took Charlotte for her first swim. This was a little bigger than her usual bath but after she got used to the quite freezing cold (despite the hot day) water, she lapped it up, not as much as she enjoys baths but it was fun nonetheless.

Happy New Years everyone.
We had a very quite night last night. A couple from our mothers group came over in the afternoon and left around 9pm or so. We did have thoughts of staying up but it has been a bust week or so and thought "Hey why don't we just tape the fireworks?!"... so we did.
Kristin set her alarm for 11:50pm but never got up. I was woken by Kristin saying Happy New Year! We then preceded to receive text message after text message, which reminds me I should turn my phone back on.
I think we'll just be taking the first few days of this new year slowly and enjoy me being at home before I have to start work again on the 4th.
