I'm back, well sort of :)
I had never left, I was just on a hiatus. I am back now and there will be updates every few days, nothing of much worth, just updates of our run-of-the-mill lives.
Charlotte now has 7 teeth, four top centre, two bottom centre and one bottom a few around to her left. She is quite a talker with some fav sayings like "Ohe owe", "upsi daisy", "hell-o", "Seeya layder". She is also good with her "Plese" & "De de"'s (that's Thank You's).
My work is very busy (I'll be back there tomorrow (Sunday)) but I like it a lot. My probation period is over so it's going to be hard for them to get rid of me!... that is until the new Workplace Reforms come in ;P
I got my Season 6 Simpsons I had mentioned a few months ago and it's a ripper!! It still surprises me that a season of cartoons from 1995 can seem so fresh and new. Next on the agenda is Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith out Wednesday on DVD.
Um... I do plan to keep this up but I warn you, the posts will be similar to this.
With a pic of course!

OK. This is bordering on the ridiculous. One can't have a blog - an online log - and not log in occasionally to update any random readers who may be out there. So, as this is the Goldfinch FAMILY blog I figure I am entitled to log in. I hope Phil's avid readers (hah!) won't mind.
In Phil's defence, he has been exceedingly busy. The new job is working out very well and is keeping him challenged, motivated and in an environment where he is able to learn. Whilst the work has slowed down in recent weeks, he had been doing a lot of overtime both in the evening and on weekends. Nevertheless, I think we are all really pleased with the decision he made to take this role and to move companies. I'm certainly very proud of what he has been able to achieve in the short time he has been there. That and the location is 1000x better than anywhere previously! 90% of the time, Charlotte and I will pick Phil up from work on Thursday and Friday. It now takes us 10 minutes to get there rather than the hour it took to get to his new work!!!
OK. That was scary. I was just sitting here typing away when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flame come flying in the direction of our house and a small fire start out on the road. From where I am sitting, it looked like one of the cars parked on the street had caught fire as a result. We rushed out the front and while Phil called the fire brigade. Turns out someone (bored kids?) had thrown a Molotov Cocktail on the ground, missing the car by about 2 feet!! Anyway. That's our drama for the night (we cancelled the firies by the way).
So...
So while Phil is busy with work and everything else in between, I am just plain busy! I am finding working three days a week good as far as the amount of work I can get through but stressful as far as running a family and a home. The beginning of the week (when I work) seems to just fly by. Even though I try to be home in time for Charlotte's dinner/ bath, there are nights when I have had meetings (e.g.. Parent's Association for the day care centre) which mean I don't get to see my little girl. I don't like those days. It means I only get to see Charlotte for about an hour in the morning and that's it. Not good.
Charlotte though is continuing to grow and is really just an absolute delight. She has her moments like any child (and BOY does she have her moments) but generally she is pretty good. She is very confident on her feet now and will even try to jump every now and then although it will be a while before she gets there. She is really starting to get a grasp of language and whilst a lot of her babble is still just that, there is also a lot she is starting to say. Probably the cutest are "upsidaisies" when she falls over and "see ya later" when saying goodbye! The other is her impersonation of a penguin (widdle, waddle, weddle)... has to be seen to really get the idea though! While she can't name many animals, she can make some pretty mean animal noises.
I think the thing Phil and I are both sometimes stunned by is her actual understanding of what's going on and what is being asked of her. For instance, when she throws her cup on the floor (it's an anyway-up cup, people!) we will ask her to pick it up and put it on her table. You can almost see her mind ticking over and computing what has been said to her. After a couple of seconds of computing, she will turn around and pick her cup up and put it on her table! Or, we can now ask her if she needs her nappy changed and she will run off towards her bedroom to the change table. Occasionally we will even get a "esss" in response to the question. My favourite is if you happen to ask her if she wants a bath. "BATH?!" is exclaimed with excited face and much clapping and laughing as she runs off to the bathroom. Heaven help us if the door isn't open for her to jump straight in! My final brag point for the night is that Charlotte is very quickly learning the power of the word "please". "Pehs?" is quickly becoming the standard question for everything and it's just so cute and so earnestly said that it's difficult to refuse!
I think that's about it for now. There is the whole issue of how and why I have managed to get caught up with the Parent's Association at Charlotte's daycare centre but we'll leave that for another time. Rest assured that all is good and she (and we) is very happy there. I will close with some comparison photos which amaze me...
