AN UPDATE
Decisions have been made, actions are in progress...
more to come on Monday :P
Charlotte's top teeth have now broken gum and are making their way down. She is a better infant to spend the day with now and is daring herself to stand on her own. She manages around ten seconds with no support before landing on her buttocks, I even saw her drink from her sippy cup with both hands on the cup, standing without any support! She has also mastered a nice yell, now I won't call it a scream but it is a good yell with a lot of volume. She has started saying 'hello' but comes out 'Hiya'. She'll say 'Hiya Dada' and 'Hiya mum' to us, even to the appropriate recipient! Charlotte can clap (with a dominant left hand too, we RULE THE WORLD) and wave quite regally. We are teaching her to High Five and seems to enjoy it.
Anywho, enough of that I better get back to work ;)
8 or so days to go.
Hi all. I'll be uploading some new pics shortly but in the meantime i'll give you a little update.
We've been quite busy over the past week or so (hence lack of posts) but I might get a little time in a few days to just potter around. Tonight sees Kristin and I attending the filming of a new TV show call Our Place (Channel 9, Friday nights). We also had tickets to see the Australian version of Ready, Steady, Cook but had other commitments so we had to give it a miss... Our Place should be interesting :)
In other news we went to visit my grandparents at their place the other night and had a chin wag, helped out with opening PDF files and working the DVD player. The PDF to open was a file from one of Granny's nieces from England, it was their family tree, well what they had so far, which is quite a lot! A month or two back I got a program to help create our family tree, now with all the info Lou has already gathered I can just 'upload' it into my program! Add to that my father's side which we have oodles of info for and both of Kristin's parents heritage and you have for one big family tree! It's a long way off being close to resembling something that might be somehow related to looking like a full family tree, but it's a start ;)
Last weekend saw us watching the Waratahs win the first game of the season on the telly on Friday night with a few ales and some good company, fun was had by all.
Saturday, Tim visited to get some mail and assorted goodies. I forgot to tell him we didn't need him to bring his camera, I had thought he would only bring his camera bag but he thought it good if he had his tripod, camera bag and laptop bag! Lugged all the way from College to our place on the train with a broken foot!... then all the way back home without using it :( In the evening Kristin and I went to a pub in Balmain to help Travis celebrate his birthday, and to watch the Brumbies win and the Reds lose. We left Charlotte in the capable hands of Nanna & Pa Pete... sorry, Papa, and I got to drink because Kristin drove home!
Sunday was a little more relaxing as we took it slow and went to Yum Cha with Ben. I hadn't been in a while and if I could, I would go every weekend! There is always a few dishes that I wish I had have been able to have but will have to wait till next time. Charlotte was grumbly as she was busy with her Snot Factory operations and I think production levels were at an all time high. She is a little better now and should be in great spirits for a friends christening this Sunday.
Apart from the christening and trying to watch the Waratahs (2am Sunday!) it's a quiet weekend with a lot of recuperating and sleeping to be done... plus the usual gardening, mowing, pool care for me.
We don't have a free weekend till at least April.
This can only mean one thing... well it can mean a lot of things but I will only tell you one of them, there will be a lot of blogging and a numerous pics!!
The bridal party was over last night for some Tandoori Chicken after the rehearsal for Gerard & Briar's wedding this Saturday. Fun times had by all and the chicken went down a treat as usual. Unfortunately the O'Brien's got the leftovers (I'm sure I could have grabbed some if I was smart enough) but on the plus side, we are having a BBQ at work today so no loss really.
Last Monday was Valentines Day as well as Valerie's 50th Birthday!! To celebrate the whole family, minus Anna (Peter, Valerie, Felix, Kristin, Gerard, Wayne, Phil, Briar & Charlotte) went to Lavender Blue in Mcmahons Point. A very nice night with a few good wines and some very nice food. It did feel a bit weird to be a table of 8 and a half in a restaurant of couples!
More updates to come :)
Had a wonderful time up with my parents last Friday, then on to Cypress Lakes for Kristin's works 2nd Annual Bash. Golf was not so successful but a lot of fun and the party on the Saturday night was a lot of fun (Hawaiian theme). We left Charlotte in the care of my parents for the night (first time we have left her overnight) and all went well.
So all in all we had a nice weekend... I can't say the same for the beginning of my week. In American Football I support 3 teams (hey, there are 30 teams so picking 3 isn't too many ;) ) Eagles, Broncos & Packers. One of my teams, the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl this year and lost by a field goal :(
Charlotte loves food time (mostly) and her fav thing to do these days? Sticking her feet up onto the tray:
What a great week! We should have every Wednesday off.
Happy Aussie Day for a few days ago everyone. The three of us went to a couple from our Anti-Natal class's house for a lunch with another couple from the class and all our tin lids. After that we had a BBQ at T-Bone's place and I caught up with my friends who I haven't seen for a while (well, OK I saw them at touch football on Monday night but that doesn't count!).
This weekend is relatively quiet. There's still a lot of gardening and pool maintenance for me to do. I'll try and get a swing in at the driving range to get me ready for next weekend when we go to Cyprus Lakes ;)
It seems all of our friends are heading overseas...
Matt: Working in London
Simon: Partying and part-time working in London
Nick: Partying and part-time working in Edinburgh
Nicola: Studying and working in Paris
Zoë: Partying and part-time working in Dublin
+ a few others
... and Wayne is globetrotting still, should be back in a week or two :)
Tim has updated his blog with a pic of the print that Mum & Dad, The Heaps and Kristin & I gave him for his birthday and Christmas just gone. Also in that post is a pic of his new wheels, so go have a look-see.
I was traveling home just the other day listening to my MiniDisc player as usual and the lyrics of a song stuck me more than they ever have before...
When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)
Lyrics by Brian Wilson
When I grow up to be a man
Will I dig the same things that turn me on as a kid?
Will I look back and say that I wish I hadn't done what I did?
Will I joke around and still dig those sounds
When I grow up to be a man?
Will I look for the same things in a woman that I dig in a girl?
(fourteen fifteen)
Will I settle down fast or will I first wanna travel the world?
(sixteen seventeen)
Now I'm young and free, but how will it be
When I grow up to be a man?
Oooooo Ooooooo Oooooooo
Will my kids be proud or think their old man is really a square?
(eighteen nineteen)
When they're out having fun yeah, will I still wanna have my share?
(twenty twenty-one)
Will I love my wife for the rest of my life
When I grow up to be a man?
What will I be when I grow up to be a man?
(twenty-two twenty-three)
Won't last forever
(twenty-four twenty-five)
It's kind of sad
(twenty-six twenty-seven)
Won't last forever
(twenty-eight twenty-nine)
It's kind of sad
(thirty thirty-one)
Won't last forever
(thirty-two...)
Hey all you kids out there!!
To all who read this blog. If you would like me to post a picture of something, please just leave a comment with your request. It could be a simple 'your kitchen' or how about 'the street you live in' maybe even 'your feet!'. Let me know and I'll post it*

In other news: Tim is on his way home to Australia and will be staying with us for a week or two. Mum & Dad will be staying with us for Thursday & Friday nights, so fun and games will ensue I'm sure ;)
After a week or so off work for Xmas/New Years I'm now back at work.
Most of my colleges are still on hols so it's a skeleton crew at the moment. I kinda like this time of year the best (as long as there isn't a HUGE amount of work to be done), you're able to get through the work at your own pace and because there aren't as many people harassing you, you get more done in a day :)
I best get back to it.
It sounds easy enough doesn't it? It seems though that many people seem to make the wrong choice.
You have the choice.
It's in your hands.
So the next time your doing something you don't like, just remember that even though the work may not be fun, you can choose your attitude.
I choose
With our daughter born this year, each and every year from now will be even more momentous for us.
Wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
War is over over
If you want it
War is over
Now...

I read today that Mötly Crüe have reformed for a world tour and just the other day I also read that The Goodies will be reforming and coming out to Australia early next year.
Which begs the question: Who would you love to see get back together again and tour/perform etc?
I tested out City Fail yesterday from our new abode. Things went okay, but I still had to set my alarm for 4:40am... not a nice feeling. My work hours are 7am - 3pm meaning that if I leave at 3 and the trains run on time (yeah right) I could be home by 4:30. I do though, enjoy the trip over the Bridge and have missed it since moving from St Leonards.
The pool is shaping up nicely and if it wasn't for the overcast and cool afternoon yesterday, I would have jumped in. The rest of the house is slowly getting unpacked but it still feels quite empty. I think it has to do with there only being three of us in this big house... that or all the wood floors make a phat echo. I'll be posting some pics later this week when our ADSL is up and running (we are on our old dial up at $5/hr so we do have access, albeit for short periods of time), we have put up the Christmas tree so that will be a good start for the photos.
Well yesterday saw temperatures reach 42˚C. I spent most of the day inside an air conditioned office, so I was safe... for well most of the day. For the rest of it, I was commuting by way of public trains.
How hot I hear you ask? Real hot.
Home was not that much better. There is no aircon here at the Hornsby unit (there is ducted air at Lindfield), but we did put on the unit that is in Charlottes room. We are conscious not to over expose her to aircon, but on days like these, it's better to have her comfortable.
Early evening last night a southerly breeze came roaring up, up rooting trees and dropping the temperature by up to 10˚, it was a great relief.
Today has seen the temperature to max at 21˚C, 4 degrees below average. It's nice to have the cold back if only for a short while.

It's a small world after all...
Of all the times I could have gone into the plate making room, I happened to go in this afternoon. And of all the rag bags in Australia, of all the rag bags in Pemara, of all the rags in one rag bag, a plate maker at my work picked this one:

What is it? I know a few of you who know what it is!!
To find out, just look in the comments, hopefully someone will have pick it ;)
POST NOTE: It was a T-shirt for Nathan Tasker's local tour of Sydney in 1997
Well, as I had said in the previous post, today is Thursday because I have Friday off making tomorrow Friday for me and not Thursday like it is for everyone else... this train of thought has made things a little confusing. I keep forgetting what day it is!!!
The only thing that is important is that I remember it's the 17th today!!
Happy Birthday Timbo F5
Charlie & The Chocolate Factory
Totally Trivial:
# A camera lens worth $540,000, wasn't properly secured when trying to get a shot of a vat of chocolate. As a result, the camera fell into the vat which destroyed it.
# Screenwriter John August had never even seen Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) when asked by Tim Burton to write the script. After finishing the screenplay, he finally watched the 1971 version, only to be surprised at how much darker the "family film" was to his own.

Yesterday, Monday the 18th, was National Chocolate Cupcake Day in the US.
Need I say more?
No.
I has not stopped raining for around 30 odd hours now. And I love it.
